The final frontier

RJ: If we spend lots of money… Maybe a MILLION dollars… on a spaceship and then we search and search everywhere and maybe then we could find some aliens…

RJ: … But probably not because space is just TOO big and then even if we search everywhere, we might even have to look in a whole ‘nother UNIVERSE.

Amazing discovery

Recently discovered in RJ’s class… a new planet with a composition unlike any discovered before….

The recently discovered Planet Cheese.

The recently discovered Planet Cheese.

“It’s a planet made of cheese. Cheese grass, cheese trees and cheese houses! It’s a warm planet, but isn’t too close to the sun because otherwise it would melt!”

Apparently, it all started with a ballon, and required a whole lot of “paper massage” before it was finished.

My Alien

(by LR)

My aliens name is Gobb-snobb. He is one year old, but in people years, he is fifty. He lives on one of Saturns rings.

He looks like a frog with spines. His skin is green and slimy with yellow dots. He has webbed fingers and toes and huge eyes. His spines are on the middle of his back and they protect him from danger. They also communicate by rubbing the spines together. It makes click noises.

It is a she-male. A she-male is a male and a female at the same time. To reproduce, they lose a finger and that will turn into a child. They eat berries, leaves, and sometimes little bugs.

He has heaps of buttons on all of his clothes and one of the buttons has a little picture of a seat with rocket jets. If he presses that button, an automatic seat will come out with jets. He can go flying. It also has a few other buttons. If you press one of the buttons that has a drink picture on it, a drink will come out. If you press the other button, which has a picture of a piece of food on it, a bug or a berry will come out. Last of all, there’s another button which says “blah blah”, which means get me to safety. It will take you to safety instantly.

Time to see what’s in the invention box

(while eating breakfast)

LR: RJ, the Earth wont be around forever. The sun is going to blow up and the Earth will get completely burned.

RJ: But I want to do something awesome. I know, I’ll save the mammoths!

LR: You’ll have to go past Jupiter.

RJ: I’ll take them to Pluto. It’s icy.

Dad: But where are you going to get the mammoths. They’re extinct now.

RJ: I’ll need a time machine… But I have to invent it first.

Recent work by our resident artist

Some recent artwork by LR. The first was for a school assignment about fairy tales.

The second was for a science competition that she wanted to enter. The small text captions in the image are science facts that she came up with to describe the things in her picture. You can find out more about the artist who’s part of the Helix competition here.
