You leave for just one minute and look what happens

(arriving home after going to the shops)

RJ: Whoah. Where is everyone?

Dad: No idea. I guess they aren’t back yet.

RJ: No. That can’t be right. They WERE back and then something went wrong…

RJ: … It was a fire! A huge fire! Smoke EVERYWHERE, filling the house! The alarms went off, and they ran outside!

RJ: … BUT THEY FORGOT THEIR PHONES! They must be driving, on the way to the fire station to let them know!

Dad: That must be it… And meanwhile, here we are, standing in a blazing building as the walls crumble down around us.

RJ: I know… It’s…. Terrible…

May, 2011 Photo Wrap-Up

In May, Mom enjoyed a bit of a sleep in while RJ planned to conquer the world, with style. Poppa and Grammy took us to a great place to hide from Dad, and Joey soccer started up again, this time with RJ on board. Up at Gingin, we built version 1 of a flying fox (zip-line), which suffered from some serious design flaws, but was pretty fun regardless.

Now that’s settled, it’s time to design the underground volcano lair

(overheard in the bathroom)

RJ: LR, when I move out, I have an idea so I wont be lonely.

LR: What’s that?

RJ: I think I’ll fall in love and marry a girl and we’ll have a baby boy.

LR: That’s a good idea!

RJ: I know… and… I’ll never make him move out… and we’ll be great friends… and he can stay and live in my house forever.

LR: You definitely wont get lonely then.

RJ: Exactly.

(later that evening)

RJ: Daddy, if you have to live by yourself, my boy and I will come over and visit you so you don’t get lonely. We can all play legos or do computers, whatever you like.

Dad: Awww… Thanks RJ.

(RJ has been concerned lately about what happens when he leaves home… Who is going to make him leave? Why do his parents want him to go away? Where is he going to live? Who is he going to live with? )

Existential nightmares at 3

RJ: Mummy, can I tell you something?

Mum: Sure, RJ. What is it?

RJ: (worried) When I grow up, promise that I can go and live at Grammy’s house, with Grammy.

Mum: No, RJ. When you grow up, you’ll probably have to live in your own house.

RJ: But I can’t build a house! I don’t know how!

Mum: You don’t have to build it yourself, you pay someone else to build it for you.

RJ: But I don’t have a wallet with any money in it!

Mum: You’ll have to get a job, so you can earn some money.

RJ: But I can’t do anything!!!

Mum: That’s why you go to school, to learn that stuff.

RJ: But they don’t teach us about jobs there!!!
