May, 2011 Photo Wrap-Up

In May, Mom enjoyed a bit of a sleep in while RJ planned to conquer the world, with style. Poppa and Grammy took us to a great place to hide from Dad, and Joey soccer started up again, this time with RJ on board. Up at Gingin, we built version 1 of a flying fox (zip-line), which suffered from some serious design flaws, but was pretty fun regardless.

Sculptures by the Sea, Cottesloe 2011

For most of the month of March, a massively diverse array of sculptures are set up on one of the beaches near our house. We go almost every year!

The kids had several trips down there, one with school and a couple with the family. It’s fun seeing some of the the bizarre creations that have been put up.

(before school)

Dad: What are you guys up to? Are you ready yet?

RJ: (rushing out of LR’s room) Yes! We are! We’re playing, “Hide and Prawn!

Dad: What the…

LR: (wanders out, looking confused, wearing one ear plug and airline socks) I don’t know how to play this game.

RJ: It’s okay! I’m teaching you!

Do you want to see something really scary?

(Looking at LR’s new learning-to-draw book)

LR: That werewolf is really scary, daddy. I don’t like it.

Dad: Yeah, they made him pretty freaky looking.

RJ: I love werewolves. I like it when they hide.

Dad: Have you seen them hiding around here?

RJ: Yes. In the… in the kitchen.

Dad: In the kitchen?

RJ: Well they use their magic and turn into a tortoise, or vegetables, or magnets, or a picture… and… and…

Dad: Yeah?

RJ: (whispering) One time I saw him turn into a fridge.
