(While in the car, a strange moaning sound starts from the back seat…)

Dad: Ummm… RJ, Are you okay?

RJ: Woooooohhoooaaahhhhhhhhh….

Dad: That doesn’t sound good. RJ? Is there a problem?

RJ: Yeeeahhhhsssss… But RJ is gooooone. There is only RJ’s ghooooost…

Dad: Oh no. What happened?

RJ: RJ is deaaaaaaaad. DEAAAAAAD!

Dad: What!? He was fine a minute ago, what happened?

RJ: The lollypop… THE LOLLYPOP… THE LOLLYPOP WAS POISONED!

Dad: Disaster! Treachery! Who would be so evil to have done such a foul deed?

RJ: It was… Daaaaaarth Vaaaaaader!!! He poisoned the lollypop with deadly bacteria-aaaah.

Dad: That’s some fast acting bacteria. I hope none of the other kids got those lollypops.

RJ: They did! They’re all dead too! But it’s okay because now we’re all ghosts and we don’t have to do swimming lessons any mooooooooooore.

Here are some random drawings and pictures that have shown up lately.

Mouse Avenger #12, by RJ

Mouse Avenger is an original series that RJ has been creating. Each has a detailed, full-colour front cover with a series of black and white drawings inside. Most episodes involve battling some kind of dragons and/or scorpions. Mouse Avenger is pretty ruthless with his sword and shield.

Haunted Mansion is a book in the school library that RJ hasn’t read, but seems to know an awful lot about. Those are ghosts chasing the people and I do believe those are severed heads hanging off the legs of the evil crab monster.

Southwest in October

During the school break, Mum and the kids head off down south for a holiday. Dad caught up with them on the last few days of the trip. There was lots of swimming and surfing at the beach, as well as a trip to Ngilgi Cave.

Something always goes wrong with the house when Mum visits, and this time was no exception. The water from the taps was coming out brown, with a strange smell to it. The house is fed exclusively by rainwater from a large tank beside the house. We called in an expert to go inside and clean it out. The good news is that it wasn’t because some creature had gotten inside and died… The bad news is that it was caused by collapsing, rusted roof supports that were suspended in the water. A little extra bit of iron in the diet never hurt anyone, right?

What the kids see while waiting at the entrance to the cave. Meanwhile some lady is torturing them by talking, talking, talking, 'going blah blah blah, grown-ups will get tired, grown-ups be careful, don't go in the cave yet, blah blah blah.'

The tunnel! The best bit about this cave is the secret path and tunnel the kids get to crawl through, over and over again.

RJ checks out some mighty big stalactites.

For LR, the cave is all about speed... How fast can we do the full circuit through the cave? And yet, she still manages to notice new things as we go through each time.

At the exit to the cave, light streams down on us from above.

This is Jason. He is a fully certified SCUBA diving instructor, with certificates for cave, wreck and commercial diving. He is here to show us how to clean out a water tank.

Jason has a very high-powered, noisy pump for sucking up the sludge and muck at the bottom of the tank. Have fun Jason!

He told us a story about once finding seven possums in someone's water tank. They were not happy, fluffy possums when he found them.

RJ is anxiously watching the hose, hoping to see some bones go past. He's particularly interested in finding a lizard skeleton.

We didn't see anything zoom past, but it was moving pretty quickly. Let's follow the hose to the end and see if anything has been flushed out there.

Hey! That wasn't here five minutes ago. What a pretty little stream!

We followed the stream all the way to the next street, and much to RJ's dismay (but Mum and Dad's relief), didn't find one bone or any animal remains at all. RJ cheered up later in the day when he found a lizard leg lying on the side of the road.

Before we left for home, we sat out on the front porch and did some painting. RJ worked on a super scary ghost.

LR works with the colour wheel to find the correct ratio of colours for the purple that she needs to paint the 'God of Lies' (a mythological creature who rains destruction down upon liars).

Halloween Haunted Garage Ends in Tragedy

For most of us, a Halloween party means costumes, candy and a good time, but those attending the annual Halloween party left with only tears and potential sleepless nights.

Promoted as a kid-friendly take on the classic Haunted House, visitors were alarmed by the terrifying sounds and sights within. Groups of children, faces streaked with tears, were seen being led away to the protective arms of their parents.

Visitors to the Haunted Garage encountered a dark, fog-filled cavern and guided through a dark, webbed tunnel swarming with tarantulas, before being attacked by vampire bats.

A statement from Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) officials states that the garage will be quarantined for the next 24 hours while they assess the scope of the infestation and determine the source of the non-native species. Sources indicate that the attached residence may require demolition to eliminate the outbreak.

Several disturbed guests reported encountering a strange seated figure with glowing eyes, a horrific crime scene involving dismembered teddy bears, and being attacked by an eerie floating apparation.

Some of the more confused reports include glimpses of a freakish ape man, or perhaps a gorilla, living within the depths of the garage, but these have not been corroborated. Perth Zoo officials have been contacted and an investigation is pending.
