March, 2011 Photo Wrap-Up

March came to a close and it was a big month for the kids. LR competed in a diving competition, where she was the youngest, as well as the only kid representing her school. RJ also stepped into his first trampolining competition and took third place! Congratulations kids! We also had a few dinners at the beach and the river in the evening, and spent lots more time outside enjoying the cooler weather.

… and Mom looked ridiculous.

Work all night on a drink a’ rum!

We woke up the other day and found RJ had been busy again…

He came running into the room yelling in his ‘stranger’ voice:

“Hey hey! Anyone around here wanna buy some of my bananas? I’m the banana man! If you want some bananas, you’d better come and see me!”

Needless to say, I bought a couple.

"Hey hey! Anyone around here want to buy some bananas?" - RJ as the random banana salesman.

Perhaps one day we’ll figure out where he gets his ideas from and it’ll all make sense.

February, 2011 Photo Wrap-Up

It’s been a while since we posted a bunch of photos, so here’s a quick wrap-up for February!

LR lost another two teeth this month, and the kids did some home experiments with dry ice. RJ discovered a fascination for disguises and interesting clothes. Mum sang her heart out at a South Pacific concert and we had a couple of trips to the beach to have fish and chips for dinner. Mum and Dad even got dressed up for a party, and at the end of the month, it was the kids turn with an evening picnic and disco down at the school.

One of the last pictures of LR with all her upper teeth... One of her front incisors came out the next day!

The only way to win zombie warriors, is not to play zombie warriors

(It’s a cold, rainy day when RJ and his friend J. suddenly streak through the room, wearing only underpants, yelling and creating an incredible racket)

Multiple-parents: STOP! What is going on!?? Upstairs and get some clothes on guys!

… (moments later as Dad tries to get some clothes back onto RJ)

Dad: What game were you guys playing? That looked CRAZY!

RJ: Zombie warriors! It’s a new game we made up.

Dad: So how does it work?

RJ: First, you have to take off your pants and your shirt.

RJ: Then you need to be about four or five, and usually a boy and a girl.

RJ: And you’ll need a small pterodactyl, just like this one (holds up one of his favorite toys, Flappy the Pterodactyl).

RJ: It’s really a lot of fun.

Ohhh, eye see what you did there

How about that… A great picture of RJ having a snack.

Hey, he’s got something on his head!

It’s some kind of headband thing that he made and tied off himself!

…I bet there’s a story there.

Dad: Hey RJ, what’s that you’re wearing on your head?

RJ: Oh, it’s just something that I made out of styrofoam and some string.

Dad: Cool. What is it meant to be?

RJ: Well… There were these bullies being mean to everyone, so I got out my chainsaw and chopped them all up. Do you know what a chainsaw is?

Dad: Uhhhhh, yeah… I know what a chainsaw is.

RJ: So I used the chainsaw to chop them up, and chop their heads off, and chop out their eyeballs. I used one of them for my headband!

Dad: Great work mate! It looks great, but I think there’s still some blood dripping from it.

RJ: It’s very fresh.

Halloween 2010

We survived our massive annual Halloween ordeal party. Last year’s party was talked about at school for the whole year, so this year’s was heavily anticipated. From apple bobbing, to treasure hunts, a nigh-invulnerable piñata, to a wet and soggy caveman, we had all the major attractions.

This year, however, we decided not to do the haunted garage. Too many kids came out of that one completely freaked out and crying… Next year, however… MWAAAAHAAHAAAAHAAA… Look out kids!!!!

It was a dark and stormy... err... bright and spooky afternoon in the park that day. Jim decided to hang out at the slide; his diet had been a huge success!

Halloween 2010 – The Preparation!

The days before Halloween were filled with sorting through decorations and preparing for the party. This year we made our own piñata and carved our “jack-o-melons” ahead of time.

We’ll have pictures from the massive party coming in the next couple of days, so definitely check back in!

RJ was planning on being a witch for Halloween... but ended up changing his mind later.

What does a kid have to do to get some decent parenting around here?

(after several attempts to adjust an apparently perfect cape to his satisfaction)

RJ: You know mom, I really appreciate all the hard work that you put in for this family.

And I know that you do lots of nice things for me. You put in a lot of effort for us…

But sometimes your work just isn’t good enough.

August, 2010 Photo Wrap-Up

It was a huge August and the kids have only gotten more busy, not less. We’ve had birthday parties, sleep-overs, soccer finals, dress-up days at school, martial arts Jedi training and more. Here are some of the highlights!

Dad took LR and RJ on the train into the city to look for a present for Mum's birthday.

March, 2010 Photo Wrap-Up

Some bits and bobs to round out March: Poppa came to LR’s school and taught science class, LR and RJ played dress-ups, a new form of velociraptor was discovered, and LR and RJ went flying!

LR soars through the air!
