October 2011, Photo Wrap-Up

In October, we drove south to Eagle Bay with some friends for a few days, and north to Gingin for a weekend with Grammy and Poppa. RJ had his first t-ball game and… his team won! In the middle of all of this (and the Royal Show AND Halloween) we somehow found the time to visit Scitech with some friends to see some of their new exhibits. Wow! We need a break!

We took a trip down to Eagle Bay and had a great time in the water. It's a lot easier to do now that the weather's warming up!

But at least she gets some sleep…

(early morning, before anyone else is awake)

RJ: Can I tell you something?

Mom: Mmhmmm.

RJ: You know those bones? Those human bones? In the cave?

Mom: Uh huh.

RJ: They remind me of Lady Gaga.

Mom: (awake now) Really? Why?

RJ: She sleeps with dead people.

Southwest in October

During the school break, Mum and the kids head off down south for a holiday. Dad caught up with them on the last few days of the trip. There was lots of swimming and surfing at the beach, as well as a trip to Ngilgi Cave.

Something always goes wrong with the house when Mum visits, and this time was no exception. The water from the taps was coming out brown, with a strange smell to it. The house is fed exclusively by rainwater from a large tank beside the house. We called in an expert to go inside and clean it out. The good news is that it wasn’t because some creature had gotten inside and died… The bad news is that it was caused by collapsing, rusted roof supports that were suspended in the water. A little extra bit of iron in the diet never hurt anyone, right?

Our USA Adventure 2010, Part 8: Fun with Grandpa Jeff

Grandpa Jeff took a few days off work to play with us! First was a great trip to the Baltimore Aquarium with the cousins. It’s much bigger than the aquarium back home. We really enoyed seeing the Australian exhibit that was on while we were there, and even recognised most of the animals.

The next day we went hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Grandpa Jeff tracked down some geocache coordinates and brought his GPS so we could find them. We ended up finding three!

Finally, he took us into a commercial cave. He would have preferred a ‘real’ cave, but Mum and Dad were a bit uncertain about RJ disappearing off down one of the side tunnels when no one was looking.

A Trip Down South

We took a bit of a break last week and head off to the Southwest. It was very relaxing and the weather was just fantastic. The days were filled with horse riding, beach trips, exploring and even a couple of fishing trips.

Grammy and Poppa were there with the Melbourne cousins for the first couple of days, but couldn’t stay the whole time.

Grammy, LR, RJ and Daddy checked out Ngilgi cave. This huge room is called the amphitheatre and has great accoustics (especially for people who appreciate yelling children).
