Waxing headwear
(while eating lunch)
Dad: (with mock concern) RJ, you’re wearing the birthday hat, but it’s not your birthday yet!
RJ: (silently keeps eating)
Dad: You can’t wear that today. You’ve got half a day to go!
RJ looks Dad in the eye, reaches his hands up to the hat and tips it to the left, precariously balancing it on one side of his head… Then grins.
RJ: (grinning) If it’s half a day to my birthday, then I can half wear it. So there!
November 2011, Photo Wrap-Up
The good news is that November is over (and we’re exhausted). The bad news is that December is on the way, which is sure to be even busier!
This month we survived a bout of the plague, and went to the city to learn some new skills for Heritage Days. Dad got even older than he used to be and now he’s even older. We built our own shelter and enjoyed a terrific Thanksgiving dinner.

Another crazy month went by! This time around, Mom and LR got a thousand and one things done before they left for the USA, leaving Dad and RJ behind to survive on a steady diet of buttered toast and cereal. The cousins came over from Melbourne, and Grammy’s house STILL isn’t finished! Finally, RJ entertained an entire school with his own special moves during his class concert.

RJ's friend C visited for a sleepover. The next morning, the two of them insisted on pancakes, the internationally recognised breakfast of bloodthirsty pirates and fierce centurions.

August 2011, Photo Wrap-Up
In August, as many of us suffered colds and ear infections, another birthday rolled around, RJ played his soccer final, and the kids dressed up for Book Day. We also spent a great weekend up at Gingin with some friends and discovered LR really can be an angel when she wants to.
Happy 7th Birthday LR!
Happy Seventh Birthday, LR!
You are such an amazing kid. With each day that passes you get more and more independent and help out more and more around the house. You love trying new and adventurous things every chance that you get. You’re always keeping an eye out for your brother and at school you’re such a kind and conscientious kid. It’s so great to see. We are so incredibly proud of you.
Lots of Love,
Mum & Dad.
RJ’s Birthday Party
RJ’s birthday was loads of fun. After school, we gathered up most of his classmates and walked them to the park near our house, where we enjoyed fruit, snacks and cupcakes! We had a nice dinner and more cake that night with Grammy and Poppa. The next day, RJ invited two of his friends to go see a movie with us in the city. Happy birthday RJ!
Happy Fifth Birthday, RJ!
Dear RJ,
Happy Happy Birthday!
We’re proud of you and everything you do. We love your wild imagination and crazy stories and wouldn’t trade them for anything. Thanks for changing our world time and time again.
Love Mom and Dad
The first thing out of his mouth this morning:
RJ: Right! Time to get up! It’s time for presents!
The second thing out of his mouth this morning:
RJ: Whoah! This place smells like a barnyard!
You’re older than you used to be… and now you’re even older…
Another birthday rolled around and this time it was Dad’s turn to blow out the candles. It all started off with a luxurious sleep-in. The kids left Dad alone for an extra twenty minutes, waking him up at 5:35AM, instead of 5:15! We followed up with the normal Saturday morning craziness, with a brief “Rescue the Cat” interlude, when Violet Miaowmix decided that spending an hour attempting to find entry into the neighbours’ aviary from our roof might be a fun idea.
Mum and the kids whipped up a delicious cake, which we ate immediately, and then sent everyone over to the park to burn off the resulting sugar rush. After Amanda showed up to watch the kids, Mum took Dad out to dinner and then off to see a local production of Spamalot. Great fun!

Nothing like starting a birthday with a whirlwind of shrieking children wearing underpants outside their clothes and on their heads.

![Zoo Animals and Fairies - While mum was away, dad kept the kids busy and tried to completely wear them out during the day. On Saturday, we went to the zoo. On Sunday, we went to a Wild Fairyland Festival.
We'll be going back to the zoo again sometime.

Here's a clue...
It's small.
It's white... and ...
It bites!
It's RJ's first tooth!

After a week of careful wiggling, and only a tiny amount of blood, RJ has managed to extract his first to... My preciousssssss….](http://tobob.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/wpid4981-MG_4867-450x300.jpg)

![Weekend Update - Mum was away working this weekend, so it was a bit crazy at home. LR had her big piano recital, so we spent the morning playing around to relax. Afterwards, we went to the 'farm-zoo' and got ice-cream!
